Favourite dance tune of the month!

Children Nursery Song: 'Ten little Indians'

One little, two little, three little Indians
Four little, five little, six little Indians
Seven little, eight little, nine little Indians
Ten little Indian boys!

Ten little, nine little, eight little Indians
Seven little, six little, five little Indians
Four little, three little, two little Indians
One little Indian boy!

You should see him dance to it!! It was hilarious!

Such vigour...and he was still having his diarrhea that day!!

I wanna do push ups too!

Shit again!

Dunno why...he's having diarrhea again...
sigh! :(

Oh Shit!

Nope, we're not cursing....just that we've been seeing so much shit for the past few days that we got a little carried away.... :)

U see, Isaac was down with fever and cough last thurs. He was prescribed a dose of antibiotics. Since it kicked in (thank God his fever disappeared rather swiftly, and there were only remnant bits of cough now and then), he's been having diarrhea since dawn on Sunday....The diarrhea went on continuously for more than 24 hours, and we've been changing diapers and wiping his bum countless times since. Everytime we changed a diaper and prop him up, we would hear the sound of "poooooooooohing"...

The continuous poohing had reduced the ever hyperactive and bubbly chap to become a rather subdued yet still bubbly and smiley "lamb". Yep, thank God for Isaac's good-naturedness.

The diarrhea probably resulted from the antibiotic, which served to eradicate not only the bad bacteria that was within him, but also the good ones. As a result, there was insufficient good bacteria to help him break down and digest his food properly, which led to the diarrhea. Anyway, we discovered three things in the process:

a) Apart from diapers, BABY WIPES are essential standby items during this time, cos it can get very messy!!!

b) RICE DREAM : We took Isaac off formula milk (his usual supplement) and even breast milk (just to play safe...we kiasu), and fed him Rice Dream instead. This is essentially a Non-dairy (therefore lactose free) alternative to milk made from organically grown rice. It requires less work from his digestive system and reduce the diarrhea.

c) ACIDOPHILUS: Acidophilus is a powder form of the normal, friendly bacteria that live in our intestines (called flora). Our intestinal flora helps regulate our digestion and stool patterns. Yeast also lives in our intestines. The yeast and the bacterial flora are constantly competing for space, and generally they keep each other in check. Sometimes, however, our bacterial flora can get depleted, such as when taking antibiotics, which can lead to diarrhea. Taking acidophilus replenishes our bacterial flora and reduces overgrow of yeast. So, what we did was to mix about a third of a capsule of acidphilus (given that Isaac is only a baby) to the Rice Dream drink that we would heat up for him and feed him with that...

Well, we're glad to report that his stools has began to take on various little shapes now...no longer the mashes of dung that we had been so accustomed to seeing on his diaper...which means that he is on the road to recovery!!! And yes, his hyperactivity has returned too (he even joined in his Daddy's birthday celebration last night!)... :)

.... our "best friend"!

Party!

Our church cellgroup had a birthday celebration for our 3 july babies: Pastor Adrian, Chye Hee and Yuan Liang! Poor Chye Hee had to leave the party halfway as he had to attend to last minute urgent matters at work, but not before he had sampled the tasty Oishi Pizzas that we had ordered for the party:

1. Wasabi Seafood Pizza : YUMELICIOUS!! Wasabi taste was subtle yet wonderful!
2. Unagi and Leek Pizza: QUITE YUMELICIOUS!! Love the eel taste.
3. Green Tea Chicken Pizza: OK lah...different but not something fantastic
4. Tereyaki Chicken Pizza: OK lor...so so only.
5. Mochiko Chicken Wings: All the boys thought they were fab!!

The overall verdict from everyone was that we will certainly order pizzas from Oishi again. We loved how they have remake the Italian pizzas with Japanese ingredients!

Yours truly (sze) had taken upon myself to decide which pizzas to order, and I was really amazed when Aik Kor managed to guess all the orders before she even saw the pizzas. Haha...shows how much this lady knows me!! :)

The company was fab....There were stories, wine, food and much laughter. Even Isaac woke up to join in the fun! To top it all up nicely, we had a wonderful durian cake that was literally heaving with durian, made by one of our church resident baker, Doris! Yum yum and yum!!!

What a groovy night! :)

Catch up time

Been about a month since I'd last found time to blog... Work has been so busy and family commitments sometimes also prevent me from finding time to just squeeze in those one or two liners or to upload that one or two significant photos.

Both Isaac and his Daddy decided to turn in relatively early tonight, so I thought I'll squeeze in sometime to mass-blog. Documenting Isaac's growing up and us three growing together as a family is really such a joy...every time I see those photos that I shot of Isaac or his Daddy or that of him and his grandparents, really brings a smile to my face. This boy is such a jovial nature by character. He has his quirks sometimes, and even 'terrorises' us to a certain extent with his antics, but at the end of the day, we can't help but laugh with him.

Just yesterday, I was on our bed trying to feed Isaac his milk. Bless him, he had been down with fever and a bout of cough for the past few days, and so had been feeling rather unwell and understandingly, his usual appetite was missing (BTW, just a note that he was weighing 8.9kg two days' ago at the Doc's, even though he was ill!) . I was trying to feed him breast milk that had been expressed earlier. As its already been more than 7 months since I had given birth to Isaac, the milk production has expectedly dropped a fair bit. As such, every bit of milk expressed would be precious. However, the boy just refused to drink his milk. I got quite tired of trying to coax him to drink and lay back on the bed in frustration, giving him my exasperated look (i.e. mouth pursed down). The little boy looked at me, and then gave me his signature huge smile, crawled up to my body and then used his hand to pat on my chest.... As I watched him crawl towards me with that grin on his face, I just couldn't stay upset with him for long, and in fact burst out laughing!

And for YL, he has been such a star Daddy. Really thankful that he chose to be an involved Daddy, ready to wake up in the wee hours of the night to help give Isaac his water (Isaac drinks loads of water!!), or to just change his diaper, etc. He is the one who bathes Isaac in the weekends, and it is really quite hilarious sometime to see him trying to teach Isaac piano....Isaac just bangs on the piano, and to YL, thats already music to his ears!

Thank you God, for blessing us with so much laughter as a family. Amen.

National Education 101

The Boys Scouts came to our home to sell flags today!! Mommy paid $2 for it and then Daddy excitedly tore up the package and took out this huge red and white flag, with a crescent and five stars on it!!! It looked real cool... Mommy took several photos of Daddy and me with the flag. Daddy then proceeded to explain to me that this is our country, Singapore's national flag. As it is nearing our National Day (9th August), Daddy say that we will be hanging the flag outside our flat to celebrate the occassion.

This is my country... This is my flag...
Daddy then told Mommy, 'Lets be kiasu, and quickly hang out the flag...see whether we are the first to hang out the national flag!' To my amusement, Daddy and Mommy then proceeded with a foray of activity to hang the flag. Thereafter, all three of us quickly scrambled downstairs to check out if we were indeed the first resident of our block to hang it out. And indeed, this was the case!! Daddy and Mommy even took photos to prove it!!! And as we were taking photos, we saw two other residents hanging out their flags!!

See!! the flag on the bottom right was hung by my Daddy and Mommy!!! That's where we stay! We are the first in the block to show our patriotism!!! ....

We are Singapore, Singaporeans....

Isaac - the Quirky vs. the Quiet

One moment he was terrorising his aunt (pulling her hair) and playing tricks on gong gong (trying to steal his specs)...

...and the next moment, the exhausted babe just collapsed on gong gong's shoulders zzzzz...

hush little baby...

WORLD CUP

So, the teams that we supported all dropped off the list one by one:
1) England - Rooney should really look out before he steps in future...The team fell during Penalty Shoot-out...
2) Argentina - They just couldn't get past Germany's goalkeeper...Like England, the team fell during Penalty Shoot-out...
3)Germany - They were good, but not good enough for the Italians!

In any case, not having cable tv at home, we had to stay at Sze's parents' place to free-ride on their SCV World Cup subscription. Since we had to look after Isaac, we only managed to watch a few of the matches that were telecast earlier (say the 10/11 pm slot) . Isaac would often lie asleep on the matteress in the living room. But whenever there was a penalty shootout, he will just suddenly wake up (so coincidental!) and be grappled in the excitement of the shootout with all of us!!

"So what if England lost? I still support her as I was made in England!! Thanks to Uncle Sen and Aunty Emily for the cool England football gear! "
